(centralized?) micro-blogging

Twitter

http://search.twitter.com/

I have my “main” account (@OtherMichael) - which is a mixture of personal and minor tech) and an art-writing account (XraysMonaLisa). Also @AndroidResource

Hoot Suite makes it easy for me to schedule timed releases (like an old contact commercial) of semi-abstract tweets for the art account. Could do that for the personal account.. but... why?

And, of course, I heard of it from one of the tech-barrage tweeters. Figures.

I was thinking of splitting the personal account because I’m getting barraged by some of the other tech-twitterers I subscribe to -- friends get lost in the deluge. But I think that the new “lists” feature solves my problem.

New account to follow fast posters - omNoise -- whoah, forgot about this one. OtherMichael August 28, 2010, at 09:30 PM UPDATE 2013.05.30: yeah, not using that account...

Do I really want to attract, influence people, and raise my twitter grade? Or do I just want to say and think about some things? Knowing my audience is good, but what is my goal?

Rep.licants

re.licants.org - Install a bot on your favorite social network account (Twitter ofr Facebook) and become a replicant.

Weird thing is, the bot posts stuff I am interested in (for the most part). The RTs are pretty random, though.

Once you’ve set up the bot, it can’t be edited.
You must delete the bot, and start again.
Instructions on the site say “change your Twitter password” and the bot will be deleted.
OR
Log in to Twitter
Profile >> Settings >> Applications >> Revoke Access

Wait a bit (unknown period of time for bot to be deleted)
rebuild bot

If bot still exists, you’ll get the simple message Bot already created for this account. and nothing to do about it....

5 ways to promote Identi.ca and Open Microblogging over Twitter

When possible, I try to post to my identi.ca account, and let that filter into the twitters, and thence to the facebook.
Seems like identi.ca is mainly filled with FLOSS fighters making tech posts. Not a lot of people posting about babies other than me. Or maybe I’ve just got the wrong subscriptions....
UPDATE 2013.06.25: I have barely used my identi.ca account since June 2011. I ditched my smartphone then, and have been posting primarily through Hootsuite, which doesn’t integrate so well with identi.ca
