from MarkupNotes:

(:description examples of custom styles:)
!!#create Create more styles
see PmWiki.WikiStylesPlus - for more on text-styling and available colors

and play around in the Main.WikiSandBox

work with something like this:
->[@%define=style-name block bgcolor=#ffbb66 border="2px dotted blue" padding=10px margin=20px% round@]

%define=style-name block bgcolor=#ffbb66 border="2px dotted blue" padding=10px margin=20px round%

and use it like so
->[@%style-name% here is some marked-up stuff@]
%style-name% here is some marked-up single-paragraph stuff

or

->[@>>style-name<<
here is some marked-up

multi-paragraph

stuff
>><<@]

>>style-name<<
here is some marked-up

multi-paragraph

stuff
>><<

supposedly you can use named-colors, but I (~MichaelPaulukonis) haven't had much luck getting them to work; use PmWiki.WikiStylesPlus#colors for color-examples and hex-code translations (or any other web-dev source).

Once you've defined a style you like/find useful, if you put it into Site.SiteHeader, it will be available on all wiki-pages. Otherwise, only on the page you define it in. Or [@<group-name>.GroupHeader@] to be available for all pages in that group, but only that group.

!!#usage Usage
Can be used to bring a highlight to a particular item of text (see also existing styles in PmWiki.WikiStylesPlus), or for distinguish individual contributions on a "conversational page." In this environment, it's reccomended to "sign" with your name, profile-link (three tildes: [=~~=]~), or profile link + date (four tildes: [=~~=]~~).

*Custom-styles these can be applied on a paragraph level
[@%dev4% This is an example of some affected markup.@]

An example of adding more markup to an existing style (in this case [@warning@])":

Normal: [@>>warning<<@]
>>warning<<
On March 8-9, 2007 absolutely nothing happened
It was a very normal day.
Which in itself is abnormal.

Modified as [@>>warning bgcolor=#333333 color=white<<@]
>>warning bgcolor=#333333 color=white<<
On March 8-9, 2007 absolutely nothing happened
